Creating an academic experience where students can thrive
Our Vision
I’m Lauren, founder and owner of Lauren Hwang Coaching. Throughout my twelve years as an educator, I often saw students who knew the strategies they should use, but struggled to implement them. This led to frustration for students and parents, guilt and shame, and academic apathy.
I want your academic experience to be different. I partner with students as an academic and executive function coach to provide a non-judgmental environment in which students receive support to create an academic plan that works for them.
Many students we work with have a diagnosed disability, including ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, anxiety/depression, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, you do not need to have a disability to benefit from coaching!
Skillsets we foster:
Organizing time
Maintaining motivation
Implementing study strategies
Accessing academic resources
Increasing self-understanding
Managing academic overwhelm
Coping with stress
Overcoming avoidance
Decreasing procrastination
Setting goals

About Lauren
I discovered my passion for coaching while working in Northeastern University’s Learning Disabilities Program. During my time as a learning specialist, then Assistant Director, I guided undergraduate students in understanding their academic profile. Equipped with this knowledge, we constructed an academic experience that fit their individual strengths and vulnerabilities. My work in higher education has also familiarized me with the accommodation process at the college and university level, which I incorporate into my work with students.
Other experience I draw on to support student growth includes:
A Master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. While studying at Harvard, I took courses in cross-cultural counseling and education. These enable me to connect with students of diverse backgrounds and create a supportive, non-judgmental coaching environment.
Two years as a high school classroom teacher. My previous teaching experience provides me with a deep understanding of pedagogy and learning strategies. My students and I are able to discuss various strategies and identify those that might be a good fit.
I am a member of the Learning Disabilities Association of America, Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), and ADHD Coaches Organization (ACO), and am constantly striving to grow professionally. I look forward to partnering with you and your family along your academic journey.
