Partnering with families along the academic journey

Empowering students to overcome academic obstacles

The academic experience is complex. Many students have the intellectual ability to succeed, but struggle to maintain motivation, manage competing deadlines, or access appropriate resources. If this is you or your child, academic and executive function coaching can help.

Lauren Hwang Coaching empowers high school, college, and graduate students to flourish academically by offering:

  • A non-judgmental space to reflect on progress and challenges

  • Collaboration around adapting approaches to fit individualized needs

  • Accountability in pursuing short- and long-term goals

  • Lauren's impact on my college career can be directly measured, graduating magna cum laude from a competitive university with multiple job offers from my dream companies. What can’t be measured is Lauren's commitment and passion for her work. My wins were her wins. That meant the world to me.

  • “[Lauren’s] guidance has been invaluable through all the ups and downs of my college experience, and I am deeply grateful.”

    Former Student

  • “A huge piece of [my college experience was] my relationship with you...From applying to the honors program, to getting my independent major approved, to equipping me with the tools to start over [after I transferred schools], you have bettered my experience…, and what I have learned from you will continue to positively influence my life always.”

Email Received from a Former Student

  • “I sent my son off to college with high hopes and when he began to struggle academically we didn’t know how to help him. Lauren suggested that she could call him weekly and help him think through his assignments and give him strategies for how to complete his work on time and in an organized manner. My son graduated four years ago and he remains grateful for the help that Lauren provided during his most difficult college years.”

  • “Lauren helped me identify tasks for the week, break them down into component pieces, identify strategies for completion, identify challenges that prevented completion of tasks, and built confidence and ability to succeed in school.”

Meet Your Coach

I’m Lauren, and I’m excited to partner with you or your student on your academic journey.

As a coach, my ultimate goal is for students to thrive academically. I use a strengths-based approach that merges skill development with self-understanding to enable students to achieve their academic goals.

Coaching is truly a partnership. During my initial meetings with a student, we establish long-term goals aligned with student values. Each session, we review the previous week’s plan, reflect on successes and challenges, and incorporate these observations into a new plan for the upcoming days, all while keeping long-term goals in mind.

I draw on over twelve years of experience as an educator across K-12 and higher education sectors, including eight years with Northeastern University’s Learning Disabilities Program. My training includes a Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, teaching licensure, and professional development focused on supporting individuals in making meaningful change.
